Kilchoman Sanaig is a gorgeous product from Islay's newest distillery, and it's an enjoyable peaty single malt vatted from bourbon and Sherry barrels. It's called after a tiny, rocky stream on the island's west shore, close to the distillery.
There'll be lots of fruit and earthy peat in this one, with a hint of dark chocolate-covered raisins. Sanaig was first launched in France and then distributed internationally in 2016. This whisky, aged in a blend of oloroso-sherry and bourbon barrels, has an outstanding balance of peat smoke and sweet citrus flavours.
